Ember Vanguard is a proper mobile RPG that respects your time without feeling shallow. You build a party of four, wander a hand-drawn world, and fight in a turn-based system where timing your attacks adds a small real-time layer. It's the kind of combat you can zone out on during an easy fight and lock in on during a boss.
The story leans classic — lost kingdom, a rising threat — but the writing has enough personality to carry it. Character banter between fights made me actually care about who I put in my party.
On battery it's heavier than a casual game, so expect a warm phone during longer sessions. There's a battery-saver graphics mode buried in the options that helped a lot on my older test device.
