Why We Sit With A Game For A Whole Week

Why We Sit With A Game For A Whole Week

April 23, 2026 · Marta Novak

The first hour of a mobile game is designed to hook you. That's exactly why we don't trust it. A lot of games feel amazing on day one and hollow by day three, which is why our reviews come after real time spent.

Big Bass Boat is the reverse case — it felt slow at first and grew on me steadily as I understood its systems. If I'd reviewed it after ten minutes, I'd have been unfair to it.

Stretching playtime also surfaces the stuff that actually matters day to day: how the battery holds up, whether the controls stay comfortable, and if the game keeps giving you reasons to open it.

It's slower to write reviews this way, but it's the only way I trust my own opinion. A rating should reflect how a game feels to live with, not how it looks in a trailer.
